7 reasons why you MUST have your own info product

by Russell on March 21, 2011

infoThink about this: What’s the biggest reason millions of people log onto the internet each day? You probably already guessed that it’s to find information. Google alone serves up 400 million searches per day! Why should you care? Well, this is an opportunity for you to provide what people want – information. And to earn some cash for doing it!

What is info marketing?

First, understand that this is the simplest kind of business there is. You develop a product that is nothing more than information. And other people buy this product to get the info. Pretty simple, wouldn’t you say?

How does it work?

OK, the concept is simple. In order to be successful people need to want the information you’re providing. So you’ll need to find out what info is valuable. How do figure that out?

One easy way to figure it out is with a simple search. Head over to ask.com or Yahoo! answers and you’ll get a good idea of the kinds of things people need help with. Your goal is to find a common problem. For things that are causing people discomfort. And provide the answer – in the form of an info product.

Power tip

If you’re worried about how to write and ebook. Put it this way: An ebook is nothing more than a collection of articles. So instead of sitting down to write the whole thing. Focus on one article at a time. And when you have a collection, refine and expand on them and put them together into an ebook.

OK, what’s so hot about digital products? Well, that bring me to the tile of this article How about 7 reasons why:

1. Ease

Once it’s built it runs pretty much on it’s own. And your customers need very little support. So you can just set it up and let it run. It really is like and automatic money machine.

You have no physical inventory. You don’t have to ship anything. Your business is 100% digital.

2. Product combos

When you have a created a few information products. You can just combine them into a more expensive product. It’s nothing to combine the content from several ebooks. And your new product will be able to carry a much higher sticker price. Your customers will gladly pay more for a single bigger ebook. As opposed to a bunch of little ones.

3. Private label right

You can grant other people resell rights to your own products. This is a very popular topic right now, because most people simply don’t have the time, money and effort it takes to create their own products. Plus, you can charge double, even triple your selling price for resell rights!

4. Leverage

Leverage means doing something once and reaping multiple rewards. Take parts of your info product and turn it into a email training series. And build your list with it. A list is it’s own reward!

5. More leverage

Don’t stop there . . . break it into several smaller reports. Then use these to generate leads for the main product. They can be free or low prices. Either way, you win because you’re feeding your funnel. You can even make these viral by allowing your affiliates to give them away. Which brings us to…

6. An army of affiliates

This one is huge. When you own your own products. Other people can become your affiliates. Imagine having 100′s or 1000′s of other people promoting your products. Well, you *need* your own product to get affiliates.

7. Joint Ventures

I’ve saved the best for last. Joint ventures are the biggest short cut to success known to man. And this is probably the number one reason to create your own product. Without your own products, you can’t do JVs.

Summary

If you can’t see the power of info product marketing, then you’re either crazy or not listening. ;-) You’ll be the master of your destiny. Because it’s your business and you control it. So, don’t waste any more time:

 • Go to answers.yahoo.com
 • Find out what people need to know
 • Write about the answers

Information product development really is that simple. Before you know it, you’ll have your own info product.
