Should you monetize your blog? First you need to ask yourself how important making money with your blog is to you. There are those who refuse to monetize their blog in any way, and don’t care about making money with it and of course there are those that want to earn from it.
In my opinion both are right because it is a personal decision and whichever works for you is right for you. Of course there are strong opinions on both sides, and obviously nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong!
If you are just beginning with your blog you will have to decide whether to monetize it from the start or wait to later to do it. This can be a tough decision to make; if you do it later you risk annoying your readers and possibly losing some of them. Using ads from the beginning keeps your blog consistent and you won’t have to hassle with re-designing your blog later to accommodate the ads.
Starting off with ads will give you time to experiment with them and make your mistakes before you build a following, so when the traffic does start to come you will have your ads optimized.
On the other hand, putting ads on you blog from the start can turn some people away because your blog looks to commercial. It’s a tough decision to make, each blog and every blogger is different and it’s up to the individual to make the right choice. In either case, it’s probably a good idea to start slow with the ads and never go crazy with them.
